DevilDriver singer Dez Fafara took to Twitter yesterday (July 12) to send his love to his sister Kerri, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Today in another Tweet, which can be seen below, he announced his plans to record a benefit song for her: "Not gonna sit and do nothing while my sister faces down cancer...[I'm going to] record a song and put it on iTunes to help her kids."

Later, he sent another Tweet to his thousands of followers with an update: "Within three hours I've got a pro producer, a pro mixer and a handful of musicians willing to contribute to my sister's song!"

While this is unfortunate news for the singer, DevilDriver's loyal fanbase has stepped up to the plate with an enormous show of support on Twitter sending prayers and good thoughts to Fafara.

This isn't the first bit of bad news for DevilDriver. It was just a few months ago that fans learned DevilDriver bassist Aaron "Bubble" Patrick survived a near-fatal bout with Streptococcus pneumonia.

DevilDriver recently announced plans for a European tour that is set to kick-off on February 9, 2013 in Finland. The band is working on new material leading up to the tour. In a recent interview with Full Metal Jackie, Fafara said of the new songs, "They’re groovy and they’re hooky and they’re fun and we really like ‘em so far. So we’ll just keep moving forward."
