Eluveitie Bring Rocking Good Time To New York With Wintersun and Varg
Folk metal outfit Eluveitie graced New York City with their presence for a headlining show at Gramercy Theater on Thursday, Dec. 20, with support from Wintersun and Varg.
German Viking metalers Varg kicked off the night with an incredibly forceful performance as they donned their black and red face paint.
Wintersun, hailing from Helsinki, Finland, took the stage next with a stellar set — one that many fans waited a long time to see. They played favorites such as ‘Starchild,’ ‘Beyond the Dark Sun’ and ‘Death and the Healing,’ among others.
Headliners Eluveitie kicked off their set with ‘Helvetios,’ ‘Luxtos’ and ‘Home,’ just to name a few. The band delivered a very enthusiastic set and it was cool to see the outfit’s several members rocking out onstage .
With so many members, there was a lot going on, as the stage in Gramercy Theater seemed to be too small to hold the band. With violins, flutes, bagpipes, fiddles and the vocal skills of frontman Chrigel Glanzmann, Eluveitie are a sight to see.
Eluveitie ended their very entertaining set with fan favorite tunes such as ‘Inis Mona’ and ‘Tegernakô.’ Even though the band has wrapped up their dates in the U.S., they are gearing up for a massive worldwide trek in 2013. To see a full list of dates and countries, go here.
