According to reports, Eyehategod drummer Joey LaCaze has passed away. LaCaze was 42 years old and leaves behind a wife and a child.

While the details are quite scarce and the band has yet to make any official statements, the metal blog Invisible Oranges is reporting his death, saying, “Though details are sketchy at this point, we’ve received confirmation from a very credible source that he has in fact passed.”

Eyehategod recently wrapped up a month long European tour and were about to embark on a string of dates commemorating their 25th anniversary in September and October including a stop at Phil Anselmo's Housecore Horror Film Festival.

The New Orleans based sludge metal band got their start back in 1988, with LaCaze joining them shortly after. LaCaze also played drums in the Eyehategod side project Outlaw Order and Ten Suicides.

Loudwire would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and band of Joey LaCaze.
