Eyehategod, Ringworm + More Rip Apart Brooklyn
New Orleans sludge metal band Eyehategod rocked the intimate venue Europa in Brooklyn recently. The band is currently touring in support if their new self-titled album. Support for the night included forceful sets by Ringworm, Enabler and Sh-tkill.
Eyehategod erupted from the get-go and with over 20 years of music the band is still rocking with original members vocalist Mike Williams and guitarist Jimmy Bower. Williams had a stage presence all his own as he belted out the fresh track ‘Agitation! Propaganda!’ off of their new disc.
Although many fans are used to seeing Bower behind the drum kit with Down, he can certainly hold his own behind a guitar as he supplied some heavy and groove filled riffs. The crowd bounced around to the familiar songs ‘Sisterf—er (Part I)’ and ‘Sisterf—er (Part II),’ ‘$30 Bag,’ ‘Dixie Whiskey’ and ‘New Orleans is the New Vietnam.’ It’s easy to see why after over two decades of music, Eyehategod had such a hold on the Brooklyn crowd and we just can’t wait to see these boys from the South again.
Ringworm had one of the strongest sets of the night, frontman Human Furnace and the rest of the band performed with vigor to the sweat soaked bodies moshing around on the floor. Fans not only lost their minds to the new song ‘One of Us is Going to Have to Die…’ off of their 2014 album ‘Hammer of the Witch’ but also to the older, notable track ‘Justice Replaced by Revenge.’
The three piece metal act Enabler took the stage earlier in the night and they had more power and energy than most five piece bands possess. Their continuous relentlessness throughout the night got the blood pumping in headbangers early on.
The kids from Sh-tkill were at it again, as they kicked off the night with their heavy, ear pummeling sound. These young, talented musicians are New York’s own and they got a warm response from the hometown crowd. For a full list of remaining dates where you can see Eyehategod, go here.
