Falling In Reverse Soar in New York City With Motionless In White, Issues + Dangerkids
Falling in Reverse are gearing up for the release of their forthcoming album, Coming Home, and they performed some new tunes while on tour in New York City at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Friday, Jan. 27. Stellar support was provided by Issues, Motionless in White, Dangerkids and Dead Girls Academy.
Frontman Ronnie Radke kicked off Falling in Reverse's set by belting out “Sink or Swim” to the passionate crowd, as he donned a Freddy Krueger-esque sweater. A few songs later, the band's legion of fans belted out, “It’s 9 o’clock, on the dot, at the spot / And I’m hanging’ with her friends again!” as “Fashionably Late” filled the venue. Other anthems that the crowd yelled back to the band included “I’m Not a Vampire,” “Bad Girls Club” and “Raised by Wolves.”
“Coming Home,” “The Departure” and “The Westerner” were all new songs that were unleashed from their upcoming fourth album, Coming Home, due out April 7. Not only did Falling in Reverse unveil new tunes, they raised the bar with a brand-new stage production. Large LED screens backed the band and the quality of their light show enhanced the mood of each song in the set.
The end of the show was a sweaty and mosh-tastic as Falling In Reverse concluded with fan favorites “The Drug In Me Is You” and “Just Like You.”
Atlanta group Issues took the stage beforehand and got a very warm welcome from their fans while making new ones. The talent in each member of Issues is undeniable especially live where the band really showcases their blend of screaming vocals, metal, rock, hip-hop, pop, R&B, soul, jazz and so much more. Not to mention bassist Skyler Acord has so much energy onstage that it would probably give fellow dynamic bassist Flea a run for his money. For anyone who isn’t a purist of just one genre of music, Issues are not to be missed when they come to town.
It was Halloween in January as Motionless in White delivered their vigorous set with Jack-O-Lantern pumpkins lighting the stage, and welcomed Michael Vampire of the band Dead Girls Academy for the song “A-M-E-R-I-C-A." Another highlight of their set was their cover of System of a Down’s “Chop Suey!” This year is a big one for Motionless in White, as they have a new home with Roadrunner Records and a new album coming out titled Graveyard Shift on May 5.
Dangerkids rocked the house with a commanding set earlier in the night. Drummer Katie Cole is compelling to watch live and she's ferocious behind the drum kit. The band as a whole has a fearless and daring vibe onstage. The band Dead Girls Academy opened up the show with a lively set of their own.
