Nickelback reportedly will perform during halftime of the upcoming Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions game on Thanksgiving Day in the Motor City -- or will they? The much-loved and much-loathed Canadian rock band signed up for the show, but a group of Nickelback haters has already started an on-line petition to have the group replaced from the high-profile gig.

The petition reads as follows:

This game is nationally televised, do we really want the rest of the US to associate Detroit with Nickelback? Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!?!?! Does anyone even like Nickelback? Is this some sort of ploy to get people to leave their seats during halftime to spend money on alcoholic beverages and concessions? This is completely unfair to those of us who purchased tickets to the game. At least the people watching at home can mute their TVs. The Lions ought to think about their fans before choosing such an awful band to play at halftime.

Nickelback, who have a new album titled 'Here and Now' due out Nov. 21, have built a massive following and sold millions of records, but definitely are a polarizing force in rock and -- as the petition shows -- have more than their share of detractors.

As of press time, the petition already has 9,500 signatures out of its stated goal of 10,000. Do you plan on signing it?
