Fit for an Autopsy, ‘Iron Moon’ – Exclusive Song Premiere

Rise up! Fit for an Autopsy are serving up a heaping helping of aggression in the form of a brand new track called “Iron Moon” that you can hear first exclusively at Loudwire.

Get ready to get pummeled with this defiant new track, that chugs along at a brutal pace with some nifty guitar work, pulse pounding drumming and a guest vocal assist from Ion Dissonance’s Kevin McCaughey. “‘Iron Moon’ is one of our more aggressive songs, lyrically it’s sort of an attack on the complacent and routine life,” says the band’s guitarist and producer Will Putney. “The world is full of people stuck in these dead end paths, just accepting a world that’s handed to you, a world where you have no voice or no opportunity to even get ahead. It’s a song written in defiance of that and is a reminder that you don’t have to settle for being exploited or controlled by anyone.”

Digging deeper into the songwriting and the band’s desire to make the message as strong as the music, Putney adds, “When I write a song, I’m trying to feel emotionally connected to it. I really don’t like saying things that don’t matter over music that I want to matter. We’ve always addressed serious topics going back to our first album. We aren’t a politically charged band up on a podium yelling at people – anybody can relate to the aggression, anger, frustration, and sadness often communicated in our music. But we absolutely raise important questions in the lyrics. Those themes are there to discover.”

Fellow Fit for an Autopsy guitarist and co-founder Patrick Sheridan adds, “We think it’s important to carry that torch. Somebody’s got to say something about the shit that’s going on. If you’re not using your music, which is a great platform, for something meaningful that you care about on some level, then you’re kind of wasting it.”

Like the recently released single “Heads Will Hang” before it, you can find “Iron Moon” on Fit for an Autopsy’s hard-hitting new effort The Great Collapse, which is due in stores March 17 via eOne / Good Fight Music. The band has high hopes for the new album, with Putney boldly stating, “It’s going to be the strongest record in our catalog. The overall mood and atmosphere of this album feels fully realized and emotionally stirring.”

Check out the track listing for the new album below, and if you are interested in picking it up, you can pre-order digitally through iTunes or in physical packages via the band’s webstore.
