Oh the things that come out of the mouth of Foo Fighters' singer Dave Grohl. Those who have seen the band know that during their epic performances, Grohl occasionally likes to converse with the crowd and you never know what he's going to say. During a stopover in Portland, Ore., Grohl took the time not only to laugh off all the attention on his broken leg, but also offered his two cents on the debate between lighters and cell phones at shows.

During a break in the proceedings, Grohl addressed the crowd, poking fun at his broken leg and revealing his "conspiracy theory" about what happened. “I’m really into the idea of a conspiracy theory. I think it’s f—in’ rad. What if — what if I didn’t break my f—in’ leg? What if I jumped off stage and I fell on the ground, and I made it all look like it was a f—in’ emergency? And then they dragged me off to the side, and the band keeps playing, and then 10 minutes later, I magically f—ing reappear on stage? And then I get somebody else’s X-Ray of a broken leg, and I make it into a t-shirt, and we make millions of f—ing dollars. And I design this f—ing awesome throne, so I don’t have to f—ing stand up any more! Imagine that!”

He went on to dedicate the song "Big Me" to one of his roadies and asked fans to get involved by lighting up the room. He offered, "Ladies and gentlemen, I would like for you to light this rock show with any sort of illuminating device you are holding in your hands. Cigarette lighters are preferred, because that’s the f--king old school s--t. I’d rather it look like a Scorpions video than a Deadmau5 video.” You can watch fan-shot video of a portion of Grohl's discussion with the crowd in the player above.
