The countdown clock on Foo Fighters website has sure generated a lot of discussion about what the big announcement will be, but one potential theory may not actually come to fruition until well after the clock strikes zero.

During an appearance on Billboard's The Alt in Our Stars podcast, Foo Fighters' producer Butch Vig discussed the possibility of a second season of the band's popular HBO series, Sonic Highways. "I think there is going to be a Sonic Highways II, but it's still in discussions right now," says Vig. "I know Dave [Grohl] and HBO are both really wanting to do it, but it's going to be different. It's not going to be the exact same format as the last album. … if it happens, it'll probably happen next summer."

Earlier this year, Grohl teased, “It might or might not be international. It might someday be international. It might only be England or it might be England and other places or maybe it’s places in America and people in other countries that are inspired by these places in America. The great thing about the idea, the concept of the project is that it can be anywhere because every city has some sort of musical history.”

If Vig's timeline for a second season of Sonic Highways is correct, that would seemingly eliminate it from the possible things that Foo Fighters might announce later this month. But that still leaves everything from the possibility of a deluxe Sonic Highways album release to a live album to even a new collection of songs given that the band recently recorded five tracks with Ben Kweller. Or it could be something that nobody has considered yet.

For those who haven't visited the clock since it started, there's now a photo of a tree behind the Foo Fighters road sign and a looped guitar lick has replaced the room noise as the audio backing. Stay tuned as the clock is set to wind down on Nov. 22.
