Fozzy frontman Chris Jericho has had plenty of guests on his ‘Talk Is Jericho’ podcast, but one of his recent guests is not one that most fans know about. Jericho welcomed one of his super fans, Daniel House, whom he’s gotten to know over the past year as House has been dealing with a terminal cancer diagnosis.
Jericho dedicated an entire episode of his show, speaking with House who is based in Tasmania. House has already exceeded expectations for his life span, as he was diagnosed with incurable Stage 4 bowel cancer last September. He was given three-to-six months to live, and now at nine months since his diagnosis, House recently stopped chemotherapy as his body started rejecting the treatment.
One of Daniel’s goals was to see Fozzy live before he passed and he recently had a chance to meet the band and catch them live on an Australian tour. He’s also currently doing as much as he can before his time is up.
House says, “You can do one of two things. You can put your head in the sand and let the world crumble around you or the way I look at it is, not everybody knows how much time I have and I’ve got a rough estimate, so for me it’s fitting as much in in the time that I do have as possible.”
Jericho says of House, “I’ve never met anybody that has kind of the attitude that you have, as far as you know that you’re nearing the last few months, or years god willing, of your life and you’re going out, like Iron Maiden says, with your boots on. You’re really facing it very bravely and you’re very much an inspiration to not just me, but everybody who knows you now, including the guys in Fozzy.”
The rocker-turned-podcast host not only granted House’s wish of seeing Fozzy live and invited him to be on the ‘Talk Is Jericho’ podcast, he’s also joined with the members of Fozzy to start a fund to help offset House’s expenses. Now out of work due to his health, House is doing his best to make sure his 10-year-old daughter Shakiya is taken care of after he’s gone. Jericho has set up an address where those wishing to donate can do so. The address is:
P.O. Box 222
Pfafftown, N.C. 27040
