For three decades, Stephen Pearcy has fronted RATT and has been the most recognizable member of the group, but the rocker has just released a statement saying that the time has come for him to exit the band.

In a statement [via Blabbermouth], Pearcy reveals that the constant turmoil within the group was a big factor in his decision to leave the group. The rocker says that he's proud of the musical legacy that he created with the band, but he's decided to move on.

The news comes just a month of Pearcy's sister passed away. At the time, the band issued a statement about the passing and revealed that the band would not be playing the Monsters of Rock Cruise while the vocalist took time to mourn.

Pearcy's exit statement reads as follows:

After 30 years creating the band RATT and losing a real brother, Robbin [Crosby, late RATT guitarist], it's time that I personally part ways with the band. I am officially done with having anything to do with them due to the constant turmoil, unresolved business, personal attacks/threats in the public forum, and most of all, the disrespect to the fans.
I'm very content and proud of the legacy and the music I’ve created. This music will live well beyond any of our lifetimes. I owe no one anything but a huge heartfelt thank you for coming to the party for the last 30 years.
With much respect, life goes on and the music I created will continue to be heard for years to come despite the dark clouds that have lingered for far too long. I will personally continue to make music and perform live shows.
See you out there.

RATT's career really took off in 1984 with the release of their 'Out of the Cellar' album and the breakout single 'Round and Round.' They remained a radio mainstay in the '80s with tracks like 'Lay It Down,' 'Way Cool Jr.' and 'Lovin' You's a Dirty Job.' Things slowed for the band in the following two decades, with 'Infestation' serving as their most recent release in 2010.

Update: RATT drummer Bobby Blotzer has responded to Stephen Pearcy's exit and statement with a lengthy statement of his own. Read it here.
