‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Peter Dinklage Was in a Punk Band Called Whizzy
Here’s another reason to love Peter Dinklage! The massively successful actor used to be in a punk band called Whizzy back in the ‘90s and photos of Dinklage in action have just surfaced online.
Before Dinklage made it big in Game of Thrones, he was an aspiring musician, performing vocals and playing the cornet for Whizzy. Unfortunately, no concert footage of Whizzy has surfaced, but plenty of photos taken in the early and mid ‘90s show the eclectic nature of the band.
Whizzy has been described as a “punk-funk-rap” band by Dinklage, who talked about his old band during a 2013 interview with Playboy. “I have a pretty big scar that runs from my neck to my eyebrow. I was in a band called Whizzy for many years in New York. We were this punk-funk-rap band,” Dinklage recalls. “We played a show at CBGB, and I was jumping around onstage and got accidentally kneed in the temple. I was like Sid Vicious, just bleeding all over the stage. Blood was going everywhere. I just grabbed a dirty bar napkin and dabbed my head and went on with the show. We didn’t care much at the time about personal safety. We were smoking and drinking during our shows, and one time my bass player fell off the back of his amp because he passed out. It was one of those bands.”
The drummer for Whizzy, Jimmy Angelina, posted a number of photos from the band’s past via Facebook:

No news outlets have managed to track down music from Whizzy or even find out if the band made an album. For now, we’ll just have to use our imaginations. Luckily, we already know what Peter Dinklage screaming sounds like thanks to his character in the movie Elf.
