The “backbone” of Gojira’s band, Mario Duplantier, has been voted Best Drummer, as presented by Rockin' Roastin' Coffee, at the 2017 Loudwire Music Awards!

This was amongst the most stacked of Loudwire Awards categories, filled to the absolute brim with rock and metal’s finest percussionists. The victorious Duplantier edged out Mastodon’s Brann Dailor, Meshuggah’s Tomas Haake, August Burns Red’s Matt Greiner, Anthrax’s Charlie Benante and Hellyeah’s Vinnie Paul to take home the Hand of Doom trophy for Best Drummer.

With over 50,000 votes cast from the public, along with ballots collected from music industry workers and Loudwire staff, Mario Duplantier emerged as the clear winner for his work on Gojira’s latest album, Magma, along with his incredible musicianship on tour. Duplantier accepted the honor by video.

Congratulations to Gojira’s Mario Duplantier for winning Best Drummer at the 2017 Loudwire Music Awards!
