Update: Megadeth have made it official! Lamb of God's Chris Adler will be joining the band in the studio for their next album. The group revealed the news via a puzzle that appears on the frontpage of their website. Check it out here.

First came the speculation. Then came several hints. And while not officially confirming that Lamb of God's Chris Adler is their new drummer, Megadeth just offered the closest thing to a confirmation yet in the form of a new action photo that appears to be Adler wearing a Megadeth shirt.

It all started a couple of weeks ago when rumors began to surface that Adler and Angra guitarist Kiko Loureiro were the ones filling the void of drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Chris Broderick who exited the band last fall. Not long after the rumors had surfaced did former Megadeth drummer Nick Menza, who had been rumored to return, posted a video online with the title, "Maybe I can play on Lamb of God's new album." He added in the post, "Chris, you rock! One of my favorite drummers. Good luck bro."

Shortly after that, former My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar added fuel to the fire with a photo of Adler spotted out with Dave Mustaine reportedly getting some food together. In a few interviews since the rumors surfaced, bassist David Ellefson has been careful not to confirm the new members, but has also not denied the rockers have joined the band either.

That leads us to this past week which has seen Megadeth post a couple of shots and video featuring a mystery drummer's leg laying down some beats. And now finally comes the Facebook post below that appears to be Adler. However, the rocker's face is somewhat shrouded by red lighting and hair, but very clear is the presence of a Megadeth shirt. Take a look below.

While David Ellefson would not confirm the new members, he did reveal in a recent interview that the band was eyeing an "early May" start to begin recording the album. He added that the album was "pretty much done" in terms of writing at this point. According to Ellefson, the band had planned to start touring in August, but that timeline has since been pushed in order to give the band the time they want to record the album the way they want to. Stay tuned to see how it all plays out.
