UPDATE: Since the news broke, Light the Torch have released an official statement detailing their name change which reads as follows:

LIGHT THE TORCH will absolutely continue to perform Devil You Know songs and as stated below, the only way to legally continue would be under this course of action.

LIGHT THE TORCH states: “After member issues and legalities continued for a year with no end in sight, we collectively felt it was time to put DYK to rest. Every effort was made to avoid this decision, but it needed/had to be done for the sake of moving forward. We will be forever grateful to those of you who shared that journey with us. With that said, we decided that this was a perfect time to write and record something truly different, something that reflected what we have been through and what we have become. Our new album is almost done being mixed, and there will be many more details coming in the following days and weeks. We are LIGHT THE TORCH. See you soon."

LIGHT THE TORCH is Howard Jones (vocals), Francesco Artusato (guitars) and Ryan Wombacher (bass). A new drummer performed on the upcoming album and will tour with us. More info will be revealed soon.

When Howard Jones left Killswitch Engage, many were curious as to what his next move would be. It took a couple of years, but he'd go onto start a new band, Devil You Know. They've been going strong for a bit now, having released two records already. Today, it's been announced that the band is changing their name from Devil You Know to Light the Torch.

At this point in time, it's still unknown why exactly the group changed their band name to Light the Torch. Some sites are speculating it has to do with the departure of drummer John Sankey last year. On Facebook, the group wrote "We have officially changed our name to LIGHT THE TORCH! A full statement will be made soon and a new album is very close to being completed. It's a new beginning and we couldn't be more excited."

Regardless of name change, Howard Jones has kept active during these past couple of months. He recently made an appearance on Jamey Jasta's solo song "Chasing Demons." It's also been revealed Jones has been working with Peter Wichers of Soilwork on some sort of new project.

Time will tell what's next for Light the Torch and their explanation for the name change, but it sounds like it's a positive move for the band. Howard Jones is still one of metal's strongest voices out there, and we're always excited for new music from him in whatever form it comes.
