We've got the exclusive premiere of a new track from Ihsahn! The legendary avant-garde black metal musician is soon to release his fifth solo album, 'Das Seelenbrechen,' but to curb your appetite for new material from Ihsahn, we're giving you the song 'Tacit' right now (listen below).

Vegard Sverre Tveitan (aka Ihsahn) is perhaps most known for his work with Norwegian black metal legends Emperor. After his 10-year stint with the band ended in 2001, Ihsahn reunited with Emperor once again in 2005, but left in 2007. Ihsahn has been releasing rich and experimental music under his eponymous title since 'The Adversary' came out in 2006, but even though he is continuing on with his solo work, Ihsahn joined Emperor once again this year.

The multi-instrumentalist has penned his entire solo discography himself, receiving very positive reviews from critics and fans alike. Although Ihsahn has been creatively successful, he chose to shake things up a bit with 'Das Seelenbrechen.'

“Musically, this album is a very deliberate sidestep to what I have been doing; a necessity to reset the creative parameters so not to fall into formula,” shares Ihsahn. “I think I do my best work slightly outside of my comfort zone and I’ve wanted to do something like this for a long time. Free form and improvisational can be scary for a musician but it is very liberating at the same time.”

As for Ihsahn's new track 'Tacit,' the musician brings an atmospheric and dissonant feel to the song, rich with drumming that adds a great sense of solidarity to the song's controlled chaos. The dynamic piece is highly experimental as well, mixing mellow, yet grand themes with surprising leads carried by saxophone.

Listen to the premiere of Ihsahn's 'Tacit' in the player below! The new album, 'Das Seelenbrechen,' can be pre-ordered at iTunes in advance of its Oct. 22 release.
