Earlier in the week, alt rockers Incubus announced the newest addition to their catalog with the forthcoming album, 8. The title reflects the number of studio records the band has under their name, but no release date has been given as of yet. While fans wait for the rest of the album details to fall into place, they can whet their appetite with the lyric video above for the new single "Nimble Bastard."

There's an immediate energy with the full band coming in together right at the start, including the vocals. The slightly subdued introduction gives way to a bobbing energy that crashes into the positively sublime chorus. Soaring hooks dominate "Nimble Bastard," making it one of the catchiest songs in the band's discography.

“This song actually came very late in the process of writing new music for our new album that we have coming out very soon,” explained guitarist Mike Einziger when the song made its premiere on KROQ. “We’re just about done actually and it just kind of happened in the studio and we were messing around with this musical idea and the next thing we know we had a song. Brandon [Boyd] wrote the lyrics and it’s kind of a narrative about someone who overcomes the harshest of circumstances and always ends up landing on their feet. It’s a really fun and energetic song.”

Incubus recently announced a lengthy summer tour alongside Jimmy Eat World, kicking off in Tampa, Fla. on July 7 and wrapping it up in Seattle on Aug. 19. Get the full list of tour dates here and look for 8 to arrive sometime later this year.
