The Foo Fighters breather between shows is Jane's Addiction's gain as drummer Taylor Hawkins made a surprise guest appearance with Perry Farrell and company during Jane's Addiction's Doheny Days performance in Dana Point, Calif.

According to Grunge Report, Hawkins made his appearance about midway through Jane's set, as he added yet another drum to the tribal-themed track 'Chip Away.' The song itself really takes pride in its percussive nature led by drummer Stephen Perkins, but each of the members of Jane's, along with Hawkins, spent time playing the drums at some point during the song. In addition, Jane's worked their way through older favorites like 'Jane Says,' 'Mountain Song,' 'Just Because,' 'Ocean Size,' and 'Stop,' while mixing in tracks from their 'The Great Escape Artist' album like 'Underground,' 'Splash a Little Water On It' and 'Twisted Tales' among others.

For Jane's Addiction, the performance came during one of the better periods for the band. Having split several times over the years, singer Perry Farrell recently stated that even while they continue to support 'The Great Escape Artist,' there are already thoughts of what's coming next.

He explained, “The plan is, as soon as we get off the road, we begin writing our next record. I’d like to give it a six-month window and just get another Jane’s record out, coming off the heels of ‘The Great Escape Artist.’ I think that’s the way to do it for us.”

As for Hawkins and the Foo Fighters, it looks as though his break in the action won't be long. The band has a few more festival stops later this month, and singer Dave Grohl recently downplayed talk of a hiatus in their future.
