We reported earlier today that 88 year old Jim Marshall, originator of Marshall amps has died. Every heavy metal musician and fan are familiar with the famous Marshall amps, whether you’re plugging into it or watching it tremble at a concert, it’s no secret that Jim Marshall has made heavy metal that much louder over many decades.

The heavy metal community has come together to remember and give their respects to Marshall. Anthrax’s Scott Ian says via Twitter, “Just heard about Jim Marshall passing… I am lucky to have spent time with the man that created the sound of Rock music. A true LEGEND.” More rockers that show condolences include Slash, Nikki Sixx, John 5 and many others.

We here at Loudwire would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Marshall’s family and friends during this difficult time. Hopefully they will find some comfort in how much he continually inspired those around him throughout the years.
