John Myung vs. Steve Harris – Greatest Metal Bassist, Final Round

John Myung vs. Steve Harris
Facebook: Dream Theater / Mary Ouellette, shewillshootyou.com

This is it! We’ve made it to the final round of our Greatest Metal Bassist competition. Having started with 32 bassists, we’re now down to only two. This matchup is for the gold and we couldn’t have asked for a much better final pairing than this!

Dream Theater‘s John Myung┬áis considered one of the most technically gifted bassists in the metal scene. Myung’s impressive run to the finals has seen him earning victories over Cynic’s Sean Malone, bass master Steve DiGiorgio, Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler and Tool’s Justin Chancellor. However, Myung’s final battle will likely be his most difficult to win.

Competing against Myung for the title of Greatest Metal Bassist is Iron Maiden‘s Steve Harris. The legendary band’s creative mastermind and galloping pioneer also took out some incredible musicians during his road to the final round. Harris has triumphed over an impressive list of challengers throughout this bracket, including Helloween’s Markus Grosskopf, Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx, Slipknot’s Paul Gray and Metallica’s Cliff Burton. Now he takes on John Myung in the championship battle!

Who will be named the Greatest Metal Bassist? Your votes will decide! Voting for this round closes on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 10AM ET. Fans can vote once per hour, so keep coming back to make sure that your favorite metal musician wins!
