The members of Korn have offered fans a behind the scenes look at the making of the song ‘Sanctuary,’ which also features DJ and producer Downlink and appears on their latest album ‘The Path of Totality.’

“This is how you make a ghetto recording studio” says frontman Jonathan Davis while tracking the vocals for ‘Sanctuary’ at a hotel room in Manila in the Philippines. Davis lays down some serious tracks by stepping into a tower of padded seats with an iPad.

The frontman also says that ‘Sanctuary’ was originally called ‘November’ and that “it was a throwaway track, but I always loved it and I kept telling Downlink, ‘We’re going to do it, we’re going to do it.’”

He also shared that the song is “about being introverted, sometimes I just can’t take life.” Davis goes on to say, “I build that sanctuary and in that sanctuary I put my blood and my tears and just the pain that I have and I go to that place and that’s where I find my peace, wherever it may be, that’s my sanctuary and I wrote it about that.”

It’s deep stuff, but it’s also brave of Davis to share such intimate thoughts with fans who can relate.
