Your intergalactic lords and masters GWAR will be firing up the pit — the barbecue pit that is — again this summer. A mix of music, food and booze, the seventh annual GWAR-B-Q promises to be another unforgettable experience as the first wave of bands have been announced.

Richmond, Va. natives Lamb of God will be making their first appearance at the GWAR-B-Q event and will represent some local, homegrown talent. Also set to perform are punk rockers Against Me!, New Orleans sludge ambassadors Eyehategod, reunited Boston punk outfit American Nightmare, rounded out by the pop punk stylings of Lagwagon.

Festivities will start one day early at the B4BQ event, which will feature the entire Summer Slaughter 2016 lineup, which has yet to be announced, and more. Bands rumored to be playing Summer Slaughter include Cannibal Corpse, Nile, After the Burial, Suffocation, Ingested, Carnifex, Revocation and Krisiun based on lyric and song title snippets posted on the event's Facebook account.

The seventh annual GWAR-B-Q is scheduled to take place at Hadad Lake in Richmond, Va. on Aug. 20 with the B4BQ set for Aug. 19 at The National. Tickets are not on sale yet, but are expected hit start in June with a future announcement coming. For more information, visit the GWAR-B-Q website.

GWAR recently stirred up some controversy in their home state regarding their Let There Be GWAR biography. The Virginia Department of Corrections found five of the book's 360 pages unsuitable for an inmate who had ordered the book and issued a letter to the publisher indicating why the item was unable to be delivered to its purchaser.
