Lamb of God’s Chris Adler Addresses Rumors That He Played on Slipknot’s ‘The Negative One’

Lamb of God
Mary Ouellette,

The internet practically exploded when Slipknot revealed ‘The Negative One,’ the band’s first new song in six years. The maggots have been digesting the cut ever since, but a serious discussion is also taking place, and it revolves around the mystery replacement for recently ousted drummer Joey Jordison.

Musicians can be extremely intuitive when it comes to identifying character, especially drummers. And while ‘The Negative One’ sounds like classic Slipknot with many Jordison-esque techniques, fans have been picking apart the stylistic aspects of ‘The Negative One,’ theorizing who could have manned the drum throne.

The most popular answer at the moment is Lamb of God‘s Chris Adler. The drummer has conjured up some amazing work for Lamb of God and Blotted Science, while appearing as a guest on records such as Testament‘s 2012 full-length, ‘Dark Roots of Earth’ and Protest the Hero‘s 2013 album, ‘Volition.’ Slipknot fans have been demanding to know if Adler performed on ‘The Negative One,’ and the drummer has finally answered.

“Right now I think silence is golden,” Adler tells ABC. “Right now I don’t think those guys need me, or need me talking about it. You know, I listened to it and I thought it sounded a little bit like me, too. At the moment, I just don’t recall doing it. I’m getting texts and emails and phone calls about it. [But] for the moment, I don’t know anything about it.”

Is Chris Adler messing with the fans? Or does he truly have nothing to do with Slipknot’s newest offering? Stay tuned to Loudwire as more Slipknot updates come in.
