Listen up, bassists, because the chance of a lifetime may be within your grasp. Machine Head are holding public auditions to find a temporary bass player. The goal of Machine Head's new experiment? Finding a stellar musician to perform with the band on this year's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour.

In a shocking turn of events last month, Machine Head fired original bassist Adam Duce after over 20 years of holding down the low end for the band. A general statement was released in Feb. 22 announcing that Machine Head and Duce had parted ways, but only four days later, frontman Robb Flynn offered a painfully honest explanation regarding Duce's exit. According to Flynn, booting Duce from Machine Head was one of the hardest moments of his life, although he believes that Duce had mentally quit the band "well over a decade ago."

To find a temporary bassist for the duration of the Mayhem Festival, Machine Head turned to the 767,000+ fans on their Facebook page:
