Man With a Mission, ‘When My Devil Rises’ EP – Exclusive Stream

Man With a Mission When My Devil Rises
Sony / Red

It’s time to let your inner beast rock and Man With a Mission are just the band to do it for you. The half wolf/half man rockers are releasing their ‘When My Devil Rises’ EP on June 10, but you can get an early listen courtesy of an exclusive stream on Loudwire in the player below.

The disc features the frenetic title track, featuring driving guitar work from Jean-Ken Johnny, a steady beat from drummer Spear Rib and plenty of bells and whistles from DJ Santa Monica. Kamikaze Boy lays down some killer licks midway through the track, while Tokyo Tanaka mixes languages delivering the vocals. Other cuts on the EP include the Rage Against the Machine-like rocker ‘Hasta La Vista,’ the rock-meets-sample heavy ‘Mash Up the DJ’ and the dance-y rocker, ‘Don’t Lose Yourself.’ The EP follows on the heels of their recent breakthrough with the song, ‘Distance,’ which can be heard at this location.

The band tells Loudwire, “First of all, we are Man With A Mission. We come from Japan. We have the head of a wolf and the body of a human being. We write songs that are about being yourself. Finding out who you are and believing in that. How to improve yourself, inside and out. Everyone has a mission for themselves in life. We have a mission as a band. If you want a hint at what that is, you have to listen to our music and come watch our shows.”

Speaking of shows, Man With a Mission are getting ready to head out on the road. They’ll rock from shore to shore, starting with a June 18 date at The Studio at New York’s Webster Hall and concluding July 12 at The Chain Reaction in Anaheim, Calif. Their upcoming dates can be found after the album stream at the bottom of this post, and tickets can be purchased here.

In other recent Man With a Mission news, the band just kicked off a “Students With a Mission” contest, in which they’re encouraging over 4,500 high schools across the country to help them reveal more about this “Wolf Pack” of rockers by helping to fill in the back story. They’re asking for essays, haikus, poetry, video, art or any other medium that students feel will help provide a bigger picture of the half-wolf/half-men rockers. More info on the contest and the prizes offered can be found here.
