Metal Madness 2013, Round 1 – Vote!

Welcome to Round 1 of Loudwire's March Metal Madness 2013! To celebrate the beloved genre, as well as the bands that make our lives a little heavier, we've chosen 32 of metal's best albums and given you control over choosing which one will be known as the greatest metal album of all time. 

Last year, March Metal Madness asked you to vote on the greatest metal song of all time, and when it was all over, Metallica's 'Master of Puppets' remained as the single survivor of our 32-song bracket.

This year, it's all about albums. Split into four regions, Headbanger, Mosh Pit, Stage Dive and Devil Horn, 32 albums collide in the ultimate battle of metal supremacy. If you're wondering why there's only one album each from legendary bands like Metallica, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, the rule in March Metal Madness is only one album per artist.

We've got the first 16 match-ups ready for your judgement, from the founders of metal itself to the originators of metal sub genres to new-school titans and everything in between. Voting for this round will end Monday, March 18 at 11:59 PM EST, and of the 32 albums featured in Round 1, half of them will move on to Round 2, aka the Sinful Sixteen.
