Legendary Ramones drummer Marky Ramone and party rocker Andrew W.K. have been touring the world together this year for Marky's well-known 'Blitzkrieg' project. Having taken many forms throughout the years, Blitzkrieg's stint with Andrew W.K. on vocals has no doubt been its most exciting incarnation to date, and during an exclusive interview with both Marky and Andrew, the two revealed to us an interest in creating original material together.

We attended Andrew W.K.'s first-ever performance fronting Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg and we can honestly say that it was one of the most purely fun live experiences we've ever lived through. Blazing relentlessly through a mass of Ramones classics, the chemistry between Andrew W.K., the band and the audience was overwhelmingly powerful. Both Andrew and Marky have been ecstatic with the results of their experiment and it may just transition into some new, original material from the duo.

The current Blitzkrieg lineup is back on the road in October for a new U.S. tour (see dates below) before hitting the UK for a few shows, so we asked Andrew and Marky about what will become of their partnership once the dates come to an end. "I guess we're going to discuss that on this tour and the English tour," stated Marky. "There's always something that comes up. My whole thing for a month or two is to make sure this book [Marky's autobiography] is done properly, edited properly and I'm sure Andrew has things on his table, but we'll always be doing this in one way or another. Hopefully, eventually, we as a team can write some originals, too."

"That warms my heart to hear that," Andrew responded. "I'm at the humble service of Marky and this music. Whenever I can do it, I'm there. I cleared my schedule to be able to do this. There was no hesitation, there was no debate in my mind of whether or not I should do it."

We followed up the duo's answers by asking if they had yet concocted any new ideas for the would-be project. "Not yet," Marky said, "but now that the time will come, that we have time to think about anything, because we've been so busy, everything will fall into place."

Andrew W.K. concluded with the simple and hopeful quote, "I like the idea of it."
