Outdoor concerts mark the beginning of the welcome Summer weather. After a long harsh winter, New Yorkers gathered in the sun at Central Park with beers in hand to see Mastodon with Clutch and Graveyard.

Mastodon headlined the night and began with new tracks “Tread Lightly” and “Once More ‘Round the Sun” off of their latest album of the same name. The Georgia boys got a warm welcome from the New Yorkers, especially when they unleashed favorites like “Aqua Dementia,” “Black Tongue” and “Megalodon.”

Heavy riffs echoed throughout the park as visitors, cyclists and runners listened outside the concert area in wonderment. Inside it was pure heaven for rock and metal fans.  The night ended with “The Czar” and a special performance of “Blood and Thunder” with Clutch vocalist Neil Fallon.

The veteran rockers of Clutch took the stage beforehand for a lively performance. Frontman Neil Fallon engaged with fans as he belted out favorites “The Mob Goes Wild,” “Electric Worry” and “One Eye Dollar.” Clutch also played new tracks “Decapitation Blues” and “Son of Virginia” off of their forthcoming 11th studio album Psychic Warfare, due out later this year.

Psychedelic, bluesy rock band Graveyard kicked the evening off. The Swedish rockers also have a new album due out later this year and they performed a fresh track titled “Shunken.”
