Let’s face it, Matt Cameron is one busy man. As drummer for two rock juggernauts – both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden – there was bound to be some overlap in their touring schedules. With the careers of both bands currently flourishing, that time has come, and Cameron has revealed his plans for 2014.

Posting a personal message to fans on the Soundgarden website, Cameron shared that he’ll be sitting out all touring with Soundgarden in 2014 to focus on Pearl Jam and his family. He does however stress that he is still a member of Soundgarden. Read his entire note below:

Hello Knights of the Soundtable faithful,

I will be taking 2014 off from Soundgarden touring due to prior commitments promoting “Lightning Bolt” with my brothers in Pearl Jam and the desire to have more time at home with my family. I am trying to balance the many twists and turns of my awesome music career. This is temporary. I am still an active member of Soundgarden. Chris, Ben, Kim and I are in the process of finding the perfect substitute for the upcoming Soundgarden dates in 2014.

Thank you all for listening and the Years of Support!

Loudest of Love.
Matt Cameron

Pearl Jam are currently in the the middle of their North American tour ins upport of ‘Lightning Bolt.’ As of right now, Soundgarden only have a handful of dates scheduled in 2014, including some shows opening for Black Sabbath in Germany. See their current list of 2014 dates here.
