Metallica will be roaming where they've never roamed before, as the metal giants are set to hit this summer's Comic-Con gathering in San Diego. The band will be there to promote their upcoming 3D film 'Metallica Through the Never,' which arrives in theaters this fall.

Comic-Con 2013 takes place July 18-21 at the San Diego Convention Center, and all four members of Metallica will appear on July 19 to talk about the film during a 6:30PM panel discussion. The thrash masters expressed their excitement via a post on their official website that reads as follows:

You've heard us use the word "first" a few times this year and we're back with a truly unusual, unbelievably exciting first for us – Comic-Con, San Diego here we come! The now iconic convention hosts well over 100,000 visitors from all over the world to talk film, TV, art, collectables, and of course, comics. We are totally psyched to be a part of it on Friday, July 19 to discuss the upcoming 3D event, 'Metallica Through The Never.'

As we hope you've heard, our 3D movie shot last year in Vancouver will be released in IMAX theatres on September 27, spreading to additional theatres on October 4. The four of us will be in Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center from 6:30-7:00 PM on that Friday, along with many of the super talented team that is helping us create an unprecedented film experience. Joining us to talk all things 'Through The Never' will be the star of the film, Dane DeHaan, Director/Writer Nimrod Antal and Producer Charlotte Huggins as we proudly present the world premiere of the theatrical trailer along with an exclusive preview of footage from the movie followed by a discussion on the making of the film.

If you're going to Comic-Con this year, we hope that you'll join us on July 19 in Hall H for another Metallica first!

'Metallica Through the Never' is set to open Sept. 27 on IMAX screens, followed by a wider release in 3D on regular movie screens on Oct. 4. Watch a preview of the film by clicking below:
