Metallica’s ‘Now That We’re Dead’ + ‘Halo on Fire’ Make Live Debuts in South Korea

Metallica made the most of their album rollout last fall, shooting videos for every song on the Hardwired … To Self-Destruct album and delivering a majority of them over a 24-hour period prior to the release of the disc. But while that may have been fun for fans, not all of the disc’s songs have made their concert debut yet. However, Metallica got a little closer to that goal, with two more Hardwired tracks receiving their live debut Wednesday (Jan. 11) in Seoul, South Korea.

The band was playing the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, and waited until mid-set to start working in the new songs. After “The Unforgiven,” the band played “Now That We’re Dead,” which can be seen in the fan-shot video above. They followed with another Hardwired track, “Moth Into Flame,” then the older “Harvester of Sorrow,” before delivering their second debut of the night — “Halo of Fire.” You can watch fan-shot video of that performance below.

In all, the band played an 18-song set that included an encore of “Battery,” “Nothing Else Matters” and “Enter Sandman.” The show was the band’s first date of 2017. The group will continue this week with a pair of shows in China with more dates booked through the remainder of 2017.

Frontman James Hetfield recently revealed in an interview that his body can handle about 50 shows a year, so that is the goal that Metallica are aiming for in 2017. To see all of their currently scheduled shows, click here.
