Metallica fans, we've got some very good news to report. The legendary thrash band will debut their first brand-new song in quite a long time.

Metallica had a creatively successful, yet somewhat difficult 2013, releasing their 'Metallica Through the Never' 3D concert film, hosting the second 'Orion Music + More Festival' and performing a once-in-a-lifetime concert in Antarctica. Unfortunately, Metallica lost a lot of money from the endeavors, grossing under $3.5 million in North America from the theatrical release of the film after spending $18 million on its production. Additionally, frontman James Hetfield called the 'Orion' fests a "disaster financially," adding that a third edition will not happen.

Now, Metallica continue to boost their connection with fans by allowing their legions of followers to create the band's setlist for their 2014 dates. Metallica will head over to South America for a handful of "By Request" shows beginning this Sunday, March 16, in Bogota, Colombia. As an added bonus for fans in Bogota, the audience will be the first to hear a brand new Metallica song, which they previously promised to play at each 2014 show.

Metallica teased the premiere via their Facebook page:

Obviously, the massive Bogota crowd will consist of at least one cell phone, so fan-filmed recordings of Metallica's new track will spring up online immediately. We'll be looking out for such videos, so keep checking back to hear Metallica's brand new song!
