Metallica are gearing up for some serious touring this year, including headlining their own Orion Music + More 2012 festival in Atlantic City, N.J. Now, the heavy metal legends have announced two shows taking place in Mexico along with a immense new stage setup.

Metallica are set to play the Sports Palace in Mexico City on Aug. 1 and 2. The band first went to Mexico in 1993 toward the end of the ‘Black’ album’s touring cycle and played five sold out shows at the Sports Palace.

Drummer Lars Ulrich excitedly states, “Given our history with our rabid Mexican fans over the past decades, I couldn't think of a more appropriate place to unveil our new, sick as f---, over the top, out of control stage that will be the cornerstone of our touring escapades for the next years to come."

He adds, "Don't be scared boys and girls, this is going next level." With an 140x50-foot stage, what’s there to fear? The mammoth stage will feature some heavy machinery and prominent visual effects that will highlight aspects of Metallica's entire 30-year career.

The public on-sale for these shows will begin Saturday, March 24 at 11AM CT. Presale tickets for Metallica Met Club fan club members will go on sale on Tuesday, March 20 at 11AM CT and run through Wednesday, March 21st at 8PM CT. There will also be a Banamex presale starting Thursday, March 22 at 11AM and ending Friday, March 23 at 8PM CT. For more information, go here.
