Horror-punk legends the Misfits have announced plans to release their first album in nearly a decade and will support it with a lengthy fall U.S. tour. 'The Devil's Rain' -- the band's follow-up to 2003's 'Project 1950' -- is due to drop Oct. 4.

It was produced by Ed Stasium, who also oversaw the Misfits' 'Famous Monsters' disc, as well as releases from Living Colour, the Ramones and others. It will feature "a jaw-dropping, two-panel front/back cover painting featuring the rebirth of the band’s iconic “Fiend” mascot in an epic setting rendered by Arthur Suydam (known for his immensely popular work on the Marvel Zombies series, among others)," reads a press release.

The Misfits -- currently consisting of singer-bassist (and founding Misfits member) Jerry Only, ex-Black Flag guitarist Dez Cadena and drummer Eric Arce -- kick off a fall U.S. tour Sept. 23 in Pittsburgh, and will be on the road through a Nov. 20 gig in Pensacola, Fla.

In other news, original Misfits members Glenn Danzig and Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein are teaming up for a handful of 'Danzig Legacy' shows in October.
