Motorboat Day 1: Anthrax, Testament, Kill Devil Hill + Wilson Rock the Ship
Motorhead’s first ever Motorboat Cruise sailed the seas as it left the Port of Miami and Metal fans excitedly boarded the awesome Carnival Ecstasy for a memorable experience. Loudwire was not only privileged to cover this cruise but we also had the pleasure of being stuck in a safety drill with members of Anthrax, Zakk Wylde and comedian Jim Breuer – and to think, this was only the first day!
Despite having a late start due to some technical difficulties, Testament ripped through their incredible set as the very first performance of the journey over on the Deck Stage. Andy Wood, Wilson and Jim Breuer also held it down over on the Deck Stage later in the day.
Other performances of the day included High on Fire and Cilver in the Starlight Lounge. In the intimate Blue Sapphire Theater, Kill Devil Hill put on one hell of a set, as Down drummer Jimmy Bower was there to cheer them on.
The show stoppers of the day, however, were Anthrax, who ripped through their set with incomparable energy. Special surprise included notable rock and metal drummer John Tempesta, who drummed along with Charlie Benante behind the kit. Anthrax's crushing set had the Carnival ship rocking for sure!
