In this list of must have items for October 2011, we've included some highly anticipated albums by Jane's Addiction and Evanescence, tickets to a few really cool tours and even a suggestion for Halloween. Alt-rock pioneers Jane's Addiction's first new album since 2003 hits stores on Oct. 18, after a number of delays. It will be interesting to see if 'The Great Escape Artist' measures up to the band's classic albums 'Nothing's Shocking' and 'Ritual de lo Habitual.'
Anthrax and Testament are hitting the road for a co-headlining North American tour that kicks off Oct. 14 in Grand Rapids, Mich. Get your hands on some tickets if you want to catch these two thrash-metal stalwarts in concert this fall.
Looking for a good read this October? Then look no further than Ozzy Osbourne's upcoming book, 'Trust Me, I'm Dr. Ozzy: Advice From Rock's Ultimate Survivor.' The "Prince of Darkness" offers up tips on survival and answers to medical questions in this collection of columns that ran in Rolling Stone magazine.
Hard-rock heavyweights Nickelback, Filter, Mastodon and more pay tribute to classic rock kings ZZ Top on this compilation album. Filter frontman Richard Patrick even commented on our stellar review of his band's version of 'Gimme All Your Lovin',' telling haters to 'go f--- yourself' if they didn't like it.
Talk about a who's who of hard-rock acts gathered in one place. Sin City plays host to the 48-Hour Festival, which is being billed as the World's Biggest Rock 'n' Roll Party. Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Godsmack and many more acts are on the bill for this Oct. 15-16 event. Remember, what rocks in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
The deluxe 2-CD 20th anniversary edition of Nirvana's 'Nevermind' dropped at the end of September, but diehard fans are holding out for the super-deluxe 4-CD/1-DVD version coming out Oct. 24. All you need is a little over $100 and a passion for all things Nirvana.
Former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan shares his stories of rock 'n' roll excess in his new memoir, 'It's So Easy: and other lies.' The book, out Oct. 4, details Duff's days in GN'R and Velvet Revolver, and also reveals how Duff Beer on 'The Simpsons' was actually named after McKagan.

After a long absence, Evanescence are back with their third album on Oct. 11. The band has already unveiled four tunes from the disc, including the single 'What You Want.' But diehard fans can't wait to hear what Amy Lee and the boys have in store on the rest of the album.
