Nickelback in Hot Pursuit With Spiritual ‘Song on Fire’ Video

We’re just a few days away from the release of Nickelback‘s new album Feed the Machine and the guys have just unleashed a new song and video for fans to check out. The clip is for the heartfelt mid-tempo track “Song on Fire” and can be viewed above.

While the band members are seen performing the song in a nice cozy living room, a majority of the action is centered on a couple in the woods. The man spots a woman in white and pursues her as she continually is just out of reach leading him deeper and deeper into the forested area. Along the way, she meets several people who point her in the direction she needs to go until she finally crosses paths with a black hooded figure who grabs her by the hand and takes her to the other side of a river stream where the young man starts sending messages of paper to her across the water bed. What does it all mean? You’ll have to watch the video to find out as all is explained.

“As we were working on this song, a very personal one for me, we all instantly connected to it on different levels through our own experiences,” says singer Chad Kroeger. “Everyone has a need to love or be loved and we’ve all been hurt or felt loss. It’s about your heart yearning for something that your rational mind knows is impossible to hold onto. There is a universally, haunting finality to losing love and we found ‘our protagonist’ (in this song) trying to reclaim it; but not knowing where to begin or that it might ultimately be in vain.”

“Song on Fire” is the follow-up to the lead single and title track from the album. Fans can tune in to the Today Show on NBC tomorrow (June 13) to watch the band perform the song live along with the classic hit single “How You Remind Me.”

As stated, the Feed the Machine album arrives this Friday (June 16) and you can go ahead and pre-order the disc here. The band is hitting the road on June 23 in Noblesville, Ind., to kick off their “Feed the Machine” tour. See all of their dates here.
