It was announced earlier this year that former Nirvana bandmates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic would be making sweet music together once again. Although details have remained vague, the nature of the current collaboration is centered around the upcoming documentary on Sound City Studios, where the Nirvana opus ‘Nevermind’ was recorded.

Although Krist Novoselic was originally offered to play bass in Foo Fighters at the band’s inception, the Nirvana four-stringer passed on the opportunity and has kept his musical contributions to a minimum while working within the realms of politics, social activism and film.

As for his contributions to the ‘Sound City’ documentary, Novoselic spoke briefly to the Hivecast about creating new music with Dave Grohl. Although Novoselic has made some small appearances some Foo Fighters music, such as recording bass and accordion on the track ‘I Should Have Known,’ and backing vocals for ‘Walking a Line,’ Novoselic spoke about once again working with his Nirvana bandmate. “You know what was cool, I did some work with Dave [Grohl], you’ve got to ask Dave what we did though because he told me not to tell anybody,” says Novoselic.

He continues, “It’s around the Sound City Documentary. I went to Pasadena to go see Ben and Kim, because they were in L.A. making a video for [Soundgarden’s new Avengers single] ‘Live to Rise.’ And so like we went to this hotel room, and we were like having some beers, and like they were playing their new song and I was playing our new song. It was kind of like the old days, like wow we haven’t done this in 20 years.”

Stay tuned for more news about the upcoming documentary about Sound City Studios.
