A new era has begun for Of Mice & Men, who have opted to venture forward following the departure of singer and founding member Austin Carlile. The group made their live debut without their recognizable frontman at the Las Rageous festival on Friday (April 21) and have followed it up with a music video for the new track "Unbreakable."

The song opens with a lively, bouncing guitar lick, and a short burst of lead playing textures the riffing before Of Mice & Men present their new sound without Carlile. The verse entertains both gleaming clean singing and angsty growls against a push and pull rhythm, relieving the intensity with a bombastic and memorable refrain. Deconstructing the some of the more jagged guitar work, the band's atonal breakdowns over the bridge serve as the heaviest moment of "Unbreakable" before returning to the more radiant aspects of the track, going into the chorus one more time. The track was produced by the renowned Howard Benson.

“We’re incredibly excited for the world to hear our brand new song, 'Unbreakable,' which is all about staring fear in the face, overcoming fear’s ability to keep you stagnant and telling it where it stands,” commented bassist / lead vocalist Aaron Pauley. “Through this transitional time, we’ve felt the tremendous outpouring of love, encouragement and support from our fans around the world and we can’t wait to see you all soon. None of this would be possible without you, and we thank you all, endlessly." If you like what you hear, the song is available for purchase here.

“If you followed the media reports over the past year along with Austin‘s statement, having to leave because of his health. I think we… I don’t know, it’s hard to talk about. It’s still not an easy thing to think about the future without him," Pauley told Daniel P. Carter of Rockest Record who premiered the track. He continued, "One of the things that Austin expressed to us was that he really wanted us to keep going. He didn’t really want this to slow anything down as far as playing shows or anything else. For us we took a few days to decide that."

Carlile announced he would be leaving the band in late December, citing the pain brought on by the connective tissue disorder Marfan Syndrome. Tears in his spine had prevented him from being able to scream and at risk of "permanent and irrevocable damage" to his spinal cord and nervous system, ultimately serving as the primary reason for his split with Of Mice & Men.
