Couldn't we all use a little "Southtown" in our summer? Lucky for us that P.O.D. are in the final stages of finishing up a new studio album and planning to hit the road during the sunniest months of the year.

The group just announced more than 30 dates in North America that will help to support their still-untitled next disc. Dates begin June 14 in South Bend, Ind., and run through July 18 in Lancaster, Ohio. See the stops below. As for the new album, guitarist Marcos Curiel recently revealed that the disc is titled The Awakening and it's expected to drop in August. The album once again finds the band collaborating with their longtime producer Howard Benson.

Frontman Sonny Sandoval recently told Loudwire, "I’m digging it, we have a little something different. I can’t really say now but we’re trying a different approach. I think what we’ve done, it’s such a collection of songs that not everybody gets. Some bands sound like one song the whole album through. We’ve been all over the place because we are punk, hardcore, rock ‘n’ roll, metal, reggae and I think sometimes it might be too much diversity and kids are lost. It’s too big of a buffet for them to go for and they want three chords sometimes. We’re never going to do that. We’re putting something together that tells a story. Maybe it’s just for us, maybe it’s not for your average listener but it’s something we’re having a lot of fun doing. We’re excited."

P.O.D. have been keeping fans up to date on the progress of their new online. Check out photos of Wuv tracking drums, Sonny preparing to lay down vocals, Traa delivering some bass, and the band hanging out in the studio with Psycho Realm's Sick Jacken posted below.
