Project 86 have wrapped up their eighth studio album, 'Wait for the Siren,' and Loudwire has the exclusive album stream for you prior to its Aug. 21 release.

Having gone through over a decade on both major and minor labels, the band went a different route this time around, relying on a fan-backed Kickstarter campaign that raised several thousand dollars to fund their latest release.

Singer Andrew Schwab says, "For those who are acquainted with the band, or our previous work, the sound of this incarnation of P86 will be a bit shocking, but in the best possible way. We captured the spirit that attracted people to our band long ago, with a whole new approach to the sonics."

This time out, Schwab enlisted a number of guests, with Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson producing, and guest appearances by Love and Death's Brian "Head" Welch, Evanescence's Rocky Gray, Disciple's Andrew Welch, A Plea for Purging's Blake Martin, The Wedding's Cody Driggers, and Living Sacrifice's Bruce Fitzhugh.

The album also features layers of celtic instrumentation on several tracks, including the introduction of the hammered dulcimer, mandolin, and Uilleann pipes.

Schwab adds, "Part of the 'getting back to roots' theme on this record is the journey of self-discovery I embarked on while writing this record. I had to do some detective work, but I unearthed some secrets about my past. One of these secrets is that I have Irish ancestors who fought and died in the civil war as a part of the Irish Brigade.  This inspired some of the military themes and Celtic instrumentation on the record, which added a new level of epic emotion on some of the songs."

Project 86 return to the road Aug. 17 in Henderson, Nev., and the group will have their disc available on CD and vinyl at both the Henderson show and Saturday's Fullerton, Calif., performance at Slidebar prior to the release date. See the band's tour dates here, and pre-orders the album here.
