In battle between old school and new school, immortal Ozzy Osbourne / Quiet Riot guitarist Randy Rhoads claimed a decisive victory over Between the Buried and Me's Paul Waggoner. Waggoner is damn good, but Rhoads and his masterful body of work allowed a landslide win to occur. The 'Crazy Train' icon now moves on to the next round.

Choosing a representative from Iron Maiden was a tough call for this competition, but after much thought and analysis of the band's work, Adrian Smith was given one of 32 spots in Round 1 of our Greatest Metal Guitarist feature. Smith was able to vanquish Ozzy Osbourne / Badlands legend Jake E. Lee, allowing Smith gaining entrance to Round 2.
