For anyone following the dispute between Ratt's members over official use of the band name, you can can rest easy as it all appears to have come to an end. Now, after a court ruling, original members singer Stephen Pearcy, guitarist Warren DeMartini and bassist Juan Croucier have regained control over the Ratt moniker, ousting drummer Bobby Blotzer in the process.

Blotzer had taken issue with Croucier touring under the name 'Ratt's Juan Croucier' and had filed a lawsuit against the bassist for trademark infringement, though a judge recently ruled in favor of Croucier. It was thought that the Ratt name had been transferred over to WBS, Inc. and that Blotzer and DeMartini were the sole shareholders, given that each original member were part of the original Ratt Partnership Agreement which was established in 1985.

The agreement states that the name and trademarks can only be transferred if each member consents, and in 1997, Pearcy, DeMartini and Blotzer had given the approval, but Croucier was never notified, thus nullifying this move. Deceased member Robbin Crosby had been expelled from the partnership in 1992.

According to a press release, Blotzer now has no interest in pursuing use of the Ratt name and can only refer to himself as a "former member of Ratt" per the Partnership Agreement. The band, Pearcy, DeMartini and Croucier, also mentioned they look forward to touring under the Ratt name soon.

The three exclusively performed Ratt material onstage together at the Monsters of Rock Cruise West, igniting speculation that this would not be the last time they did so. Joining the trio were drummer Jimmy DeGrasso (Y&T, Alice Cooper, Megadeth and more) and guitarist Carlos Cavazo (Quiet Riot). It is not known if DeGrasso and Cavazo will return as part of the permanent Ratt lineup.

Blotzer had been touring under the Ratt name with his own group of players over the past year-plus. With DeMartini opting not to tour without his classic bandmates, Blotzer moved to take control of the name in order to keep the legacy alive. This led to DeMartini, the lone other member in their partnership agreement, to challenge Blotzer's use of the name with his lineup of players.
