Slash Joins Lita Ford and Cherie Currie Onstage for ‘Cherry Bomb’

Former Runaways members Lita Ford and Cherie Currie played together for the first time in more than 30 years this past October. Most recently (Jan. 9), the two reprised their performance of ‘Cherry Bomb’ at Ford’s headlining show at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, Calif., and this time they were joined by Slash (watch above).

The all-girl group the Runaways formed in the mid 1970s. In addition to Ford and Currie, Joan Jett was also a member. They released four studio albums before splitting in 1979. The 2010 movie ‘The Runaways,’ which starred Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, was based on Currie’s autobiography.

At the Whisky show last week, Slash also performed the song ‘Black Leather’ with Ford. Originally written for the Sex Pistols, the song appeared on the Runaways last album ‘And Now…The Runaways.’ By that time, Currie had left the group.

Also joining Ford on stage was Glenn Hughes. He and Ford performed the Deep Purple songs ‘Burn’ (watch below) and ‘Mistreated’ as well as Ford’s hit ‘Close My Eyes Forever.’

After the show, Slash posted the following tweet:

Ford released the album ‘The Bitch Is Back…Live‘ in November. It included tracks from her latest album ‘Living Like a Runaway’ along with classic songs like ‘Kiss Me Deadly’ and ‘Hungry.’
