Anthrax are currently on the latter portion of touring behind their 'Worship Music' album and 'Anthems' cover EP and they've decided to capture the live experience while the band members are definitely clicking on all cylinders. The group revealed via their Facebook page that a new concert DVD will be filmed during their upcoming stop in Santiago, Chile.
Anthrax kicked off the 2013 Revolver Golden Gods last night (May 2) with a set that included blistering performances of 'Caught in a Mosh' and 'Fight 'Em Till You Can't,' before the band welcomed the night's first surprise guests -- Pantera's Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown -- for a performance of Pantera
Scott Ian of Anthrax was the guest on Full Metal Jackie’s radio show this past weekend. The guitarist spoke all about the band's recent touring and expressed his aspirations for playing with AC/DC. Ian also talked about upcoming tour dates and new material. If you missed Full Metal Jackie’s show, check out her interview with Scott Ian below:
Continuing on with our coverage of the 2013 New England Metal & Hardcore Festival, we had the chance to sit backstage with Anthrax vocalist Joey Belladonna and bassist Frank Bello for a lovely chat. Topics of the day included Shadows Fall guitarist Jon Donias filling in for former guitarist Rob Caggiano, the band's headlining spot on the just-wrapped 2013 Metal Alliance tour, new material slowly being jammed out for Anthrax's next studio album + much more.
Black Sabbath released 'God is Dead?' on April 18 as the band's first official single from the massively anticipated new album '13.' 'God is Dead?' was unleashed upon us all the day before the 2013 New England Metal and Hardcore Festival began, and to our surprise, most of the festival bands we interviewed hadn't actually heard the track yet. Thus, we busted out the iPod, attached some sweet Bose headphones and offered musicians from acts such as Anthrax, Hatebreed, Every Time I Die + others their first taste of '13.'
Despite the infamous rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees, metalheads welcomed New York thrash legends Anthrax with open arms as they headlined the first night of the New England Hardcore & Metal Festival at The Palladium in Worcester, Mass., on Saturday (April 19).
With all that Massachu
Shadows Fall guitarist Jon Donais is definitely being thrown into the fire. The musician has joined Anthrax's touring lineup after the exit of longtime axeman Rob Caggiano earlier this year, and during Friday's (April 12) performance in Orlando he stepped up by covering both Caggiano and fellow guitarist Scott Ian's parts during the show.
Each and every day of his life, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian proves that he is metal's most devoted horror fanatic. Sorry, Phil Anselmo, you'll have to accept the silver for now. However, there's good news for the Pantera / Down vocalist -- Anselmo can now melt down that silver medal, mold some silver bullets and do away with Scott Ian, as the thrash guitarist was recently transformed into a werewolf.
There's no denying the power of Anthrax singer Joey Belladonna's voice, but how would he handle the American standard, 'The National Anthem?' Audiences found out Friday night (April 5) as Belladonna walked out to center court at the Chicago Bulls-Orlando Magic game at Chicago's United Center to open the night's pre-game festivities.
