It's been eight years since the tragic onstage murder of Pantera / Damageplan guitar legend 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott, but the utter outpouring of love, respect and the desire to memorialize the man has not diminished one iota. Among those who honored Dimebag's legacy this year are Robb Flynn and the rest of Machine Head.
This past Saturday, Dec. 8, marked the eight-year anniversary of Pantera / Damageplan guitarist 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott's tragic death. Get Slayer's Kerry King and Anthrax's Scott Ian in front of a camera together, and all you have to do is get out of the way while two hard rock legends talk -- which is exactly what the producers at Fuse.tv did recently when King and Ian arrived in the studio to discuss their recent Metal Masters 4 concert.
In an exclusive interview with Loudwire, Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul talked about the legal situation Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe is currently in overseas in the Czech Republic. The legendary Pantera stickman knows all-too-well the dangers of fans jumping on-stage at live shows. Nearly eight years ago, his brother Dimebag Darrell was tragically shot and killed right in front of him during a Damageplan set in Columbus, Ohio.
Hellyeah / ex-Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul recently spoke about a hypothetical Pantera reunion during an interview with radio station 97.1 The Eagle Rocks. During the discussion, Paul revealed that if a Pantera reunion were to happen, his first and only choice to fill in for his late brother "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott would be Black Label Society shredder Zakk Wylde.
The Ride for Dime Motorcycle Run set for March 31 will not only honor the late, great Dimebag Darrell Abbott of Pantera fame. The Ride for Dime events take place nationally and benefit local children's charities and this marks the inaugural Ride for Dime in Florida. The rides make sure that Dime's memory lives on and also help those in need.
DimeBash went off without a hitch last night (Dec. 14) at the Key Club in West Hollywood, Calif. Presented by 'That Metal Show' hosts Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson, the event boasted some of metal's most legendary musicians paying tribute to the late Pantera / Damageplan guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.
The lineup for the second annual DimeBash has been announced. He was performing with his post-Pantera band Damageplan when a disturbed fan opened fire at close range and shot him.
