Guns N' Roses guitarist DJ Ashba has a new gig, and no, he's not leaving GNR or Sixx: A.M., his other band. He's been named the celebrity spokesman for BullyVille.com. It's a cause close to his heart, as he endured a rough upbringing being bullied not by his peers but by his father. Ashba, 39, became involved in this initiative since he lives next door to the site's founder in Las Vegas and he appreciates the fact that it creates almost a safe haven and offers a supportive resource for kids, something he did not have growing up.
While Axl Rose is considered difficult and a diva by many outsiders – like fans who wait for hours for the sometimes tardy perfectionist to take the stage or his former Guns N' Roses bandmates, like Slash- there is one person who exalts the enigmatic singer. It's guitarist DJ Ashba, who certainly has a unique perspective, as he works directly with Rose. Ashba has gone on record before to sing the praises of his boss, but this time he took it a step further, saying he'd take a bullet for Rose. That's dedication. Give the man a raise!
Guns N’ Roses are always a hot topic when it comes to rock’ n’ roll and lead guitarist DJ Ashba has been one busy axeman. He is also the guitarist of Nikki Sixx’s band Sixx: A.M., so when DJ Ashba spoke to Sandman of Loudwire Radio, he dished on everything from the future of Guns N’ Roses and uncertainty about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as working with Sixx: A.M. and their upcoming performance at Revolver’s Golden Gods awards. Check out the interview below:
DJ Ashba has been rocking the six-string with Guns N’ Roses ever since he replaced Robin Finck in 2009. While some GN'R fans weren't exactly welcoming when it came to a new band member joining their favorite group, in a new interview with Rock Over America, DJ Ashba explained that he got past that quickly, and now, the fans and press are welcoming him with open arms and ears.
Guitarist, songwriter, and producer DJ Ashba has seen his career skyrocket over the last few years, first as an integral part of Sixx:A.M. with Nikki Sixx and James Michael and then as the guitar player of Guns N’ Roses, joining Axl Rose on his tour across the world. Ashba recently opened up to Bravewords in an interview about his future with Guns N’ Roses, how he prepares to write for individual projects, and how Nikki Sixx and Axl Rose have become his best friends.
Call it a rock ‘n’ roll fairytale. DJ Ashba’s first concert was a Motley Crue show when he was just 16 years old, and now, the expert six-stringer is a bona fide member of fellow ‘80s rock icons Guns N’ Roses, who are set to get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year. That's a killer career trajectory, no doubt!
