'The Avengers' set a record for the biggest opening weekend ever, raking in over $200 million. That shattered the old mark by 2010's 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2' by almost $40 million. The movie features a collection of superheroes such as Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor and others.
Metallica's Orion Music + More Festival seems to keep getting more and more interesting as time slowly approaches the two-day event. Having recently added more metal acts such as Sepultura and Suicidal Tendencies to the bill, Metallica frontman James Hetfield stepped it up once again by announcing that there will be a car and motorcycle show at the festival.
Megadeth's Dave Mustaine has said some interesting stuff lately, such as supporting Republican Presidential candidate Rick Santorum only to rebuke that support, opposing gay marriage, telling women in Africa to "put a plug in it" regarding birth control, but now he has said something even more interesting. In a recent radio interview with Minneapolis radio station 93X, Mustaine spoke about the proposed supergroup with Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and Metallica's James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich that he spoke about last year.
Much of the fan feedback on the single 'The View' by the Metallica and Lou Reed project has not been overwhelmingly positive. The jagged song, which lives on the 'Lulu' album due out on Nov. 1, combines Metallica's signature, face-melting metal bluster with Reed's gravelly, spoken word-style vocal delivery over top. But Metallica were able to pull off a seemingly disjointed collaboration such as this because, well, they're Metallica and they've earned it. But getting there wasn't totally easy, as Reed toppled the guitar titans known as Hammett and Hetfield in the studio.
