While guitar great John 5 gears up for the May 8 release of his latest solo effort, ‘God Told Me To,’ in addition to kicking off a new tour with Rob Zombie on May 11, we asked him to count down the five most influential guitar players who inspired him throughout his career.
With a movie, new album and a co-headlining tour with Megadeth already on the books for 2012, you would think Rob Zombie would be stressed out. However, guitarist John 5 says that despite his busy workload, working with Zombie has never been better.
John 5’s new solo album ‘God Told Me To’ is set to be released on May 8, and he recently took some time to divulge the meaning behind the album title as well as talking about his work history with both the legendary Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson.
John 5’s upcoming solo disc ‘God Told Me To’ originally had a release date of April 10, but has since been bumped to May 8. The release date of the CD/DVD combo coincides with the kickoff of the upcoming co-headlining tour with Rob Zombie and Megadeth.
John 5’s new solo CD, ‘God Told Me To,’ is set for an April 10 release, and the newly revealed cover art (see it below) was painted by Rob Zombie. The painting depicts a menacing looking head shot of John 5 with his signature number bleeding down his forehead. The title of the album is painted in blood red as well, creating a macabre portrait of the guitarist.

Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 certainly has an impressive range in his craft. Besides shredding for Zombie, the axe-man has played with Marilyn Manson and David Lee Roth, as well as releasing a slew of his own instrumental records. John 5 is about to add 'film composer' to his long list of credentials, as he has been recruited by bandmate Rob Zombie to score his upcoming film, 'The Lords of Salem.'

The guitarist is now celebrating the release of his newest single 'Beat It,' an instrumental tribute to the late Michael Jackson.
