Hipster-smashing comedy 'Portlandia' is about to enter its fourth season on IFC. The critically acclaimed show, starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, is set to welcome a bunch of musicians as guest stars. Guns N' Roses / Walking Papers bassist Duff McKagan, Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, Dead Kennedys' Jello Biafra + more have all been confirmed to appear in the new 'Portlandia' season.
Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age recently made quite a memorable entrance to a party in the Hollywood Hills, in a manner of speaking. The frontman was allegedly run off the road by an out of control Range Rover only to end up smashing into a fence, literally crashing an outdoor party.
In the Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme, you've got three of rock's great frontmen, yet with their 'Sound City' soundtrack collaboration the three musicians chose to let their instruments do the talking on a new song called 'Mantra.'
Pearl Jam's 'Ten Club' continues to be one of the better fan club experiences, with the band rarely failing to lavish the members with interesting new releases. The group's latest year-end 'Ten Club' offering is a two-sided single featuring a live version of 'In The Moonlight' featuring Josh Homme on one side and 'All Night' with special guests Glen Hansard, Liam Finn and Joseph Arthur on the other.
Queens of the Stone Age are working hard to finish up their first new album since 2007's 'Era Vulgaris,' and singer Josh Homme says it's not exactly been the easiest disc to put together but that he thinks the end result will provide a "deeper," "richer" and "stranger" listening experience.
Brody Dalle is best known as the frontwoman for punk band the Distillers. As a singer and guitarist, Dalle established herself as one of underground music's leading females as well as bringing an alternative meaning to the term 'sex symbol.'
Those waiting for a new Queens of the Stone Age album will have to settle for the Josh Homme solo single titled 'Nobody to Love' for the time being. The track made a rather low-key debut late last week as it appeared over the closing credits of Jake Gyllenhaal-Michael Pena cop movie, 'End of Watch.'
Josh Homme is certainly one of the most prolific musicians of the last two decades. His recent appearance in country legend Glen Campbell's video is only one of many accomplishments by Homme. Since beginning the now-legendary stoner rock band Kyuss at the age of 14, Homme has dedicated both his teenage and adult years to music and his ever-evolving craft.
